To launch I've posted the write-up of a 10 day tour by bike in south-eastern Spain - Murcia and adjacent parts of Andalucia with forays into corners of La Mancha and the Pais Valenciano - in February 2008. I took a sleeping bag in case I had to bivvy out for the odd night, but never used it and cursed its weight and bulk. I reckon I will not be taking one again, at least in Spain, as with a bit of prior research it always seems to be possible to find somewhere to stay, usually quite cheap and nearly always clean and comfortable. I used to always sleep out while cycle-touring but have become a bit soft now and rather like having a hot shower and a bed to sleep in at the end of a day's ride. It doesn't quite match up to the connotations of credit-card touring, so I'd describe it rather as debit-card touring.
Eating the wind
This is the companion blog to Edible Alconasser and kitchenstorm. Alconasser is about growing things, kitchenstorm about cooking them, this one is about going places. The Tramuntana is the north wind that gives its name to Mallorca's mountains, the Serra de Tramuntana. Makan angin means to eat the wind in Malay / Bahasa Indonesia, ie to wander or just hang out. So that's what this blog is about - more the wandering part, both in Mallorca and elsewhere. Mainly it's about going on foot or cycling. The latter strictly touring and non-sporting, both hour to day rides and the odd tour.
